Last night I spent hours porting the exhaust manifold. But It also seems as the turbo exhasut elbow has got a small diameter compared to the Maniflow downpipe. How big is this pipe internally?? I'll need to open the elbow to suit.
Thanks.

Yea the elbow is definetly smaller, but then on the metro the whole exhaust system was smaller.

I dont have my old T3 parts anymore, but i remember i took loads out of the elbow near where it joins to the downpipe. Sorry i dont have the figures

I was feeling kind so got the tape measure out just now while I was in the garage.

Downpipe ID (Maniflow type) 1 7/8".

Turbo Elbow ID is between 1 5/8" - 1 11/16". Could not get a better measurement as my spare turbo is at the back of a cupboard under a load of stuff I couldn't be bothered to move to get it out and measure properly.

In any case, there is certainly scope to enlarge the elbow somewhat to match the downpipe.

I'll have the elbow opened to 47mm.

After doing this it'll spin in fourth off boost at a guess. This in addition to the Bodge it racing power valve mod should seriously get the brick going.
