Hi,

Might seem a silly question, but on the subject of piston to bore clearance, if you are aiming for say .0025" clearance, is that per side (i.e. .005" difference in the diameters) or total, i.e. .0025" difference in the diameters?

When the piston is mic'd up at 90 degrees to the pin is about 10mm up from the skirt base the right place to check (to account for 'barreling')?

Finally, I realise this is a matter of opinion, but what do people think is a reasonable clearance? I am running powermax 73,5 pistons on a n/a 16v.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Gareth

I all ways aim for 0.002" clearance but in a high rpm application I would settle for 0.025".

And 0.0025" is total Clarence In my book

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

nice and tight its 0.002" overall skirt clearence 0.001" each side, but on a balistic motor like paul says increase it
