I'm trying to figure out if I've done something obviously wrong here... Have I done something stupid? It looks like I won't be able to get the holes to line up unless the clutch is pressed in slightly? I couldn't get the rod and further into the slave cylinder either. Any ideas?

If the clutch is bled, take some fluid out the reservoir and try and push it in further, if it doesn't, no harm done.

Currently its just on the bench with no fluid etc, I was just offering it up.

I think I'll try again when the engine is in the engine bay.

Out of interest the circular plate that the plunger presses (and has the spring clip holding it one) against has a raised section, should that be facing outwards or inwards?

I wondered if that was the wrong way round that it would not let the plunger go in far enough...?

Cheers guys, just had a play with it all and the slave cylinder had stuck... I gave it a little knock and it went in further.

Told it was a stupid mistake.
