ive broke my exhaust again.. i have a standard manifold for a 998 and a 1 piece standard exhaust (peashooter) im toying with the idea of fitting the lcb manifold from specialist components with a mini sport play mini 2" side exit system.
will this system be ok for the 998 or will it be too big?

ty in advance

For 998 you want a Cooper freeflow manifold and RC40. 2" is far too big

I seriously doubt it!

Agree with paul here, maniflow system or rc40 in 1.75" bore, dont forget you'll need a new inlet manifold if you have the standard cast inlet/exhaust one fitted.

sounds good, ill invest in one as soon as money allows.. i may also get an ultimate engine steady as i think engine movement is probs what killed my last exhaust..

are you intending to put a bigger engine in in the long run? the guys are right about the freeflow and RC40 but if your planning to upgrade, it may be a compromise to consider the lcb.

Good point rob, i had an LCB on my 998, swapped straight over when i put the 1275, no bother really on either except the lcb on the 998 is a little closer to the floor.

Thing is, if you chang the exhaust manifold for a Cooper freeflow/LCB you'll have no inlet manifold, as inlet and exhaust are one big lump of joined up bollocks as standard.

Sound's like you need a stage one kit to me, Minipares is a good quality one.

I hadnt considered a stg 1 kit till nw but nw you mention it its not such a bad idea.. Wood get rid of my dodgy exhaust and that unsightly air box under the bonnet as well as give me a small power boost.. Win win imo? Right?
oh and im goin 1293 turbo so the temp exhaust idea wont probs work

On a standart 998 head, I am not happy with the inlet that is in the MS stage 1 kit.

The smaller bore inlet was discontinued at some point so now you get 35mm inlet that you have to fit in front of a 30 mm hole in the head.

Don't know how much it affects power or if it does at all but I'd be happy if it were a bit smaller.

I wouldn't see it making any major difference, especially on a 998, i had one on mine, a mate has one on his. It the mix was forced in rather than sucked it may make some difference i guess, but as it is sucked through i would have thought a funnelling effect would take place.

I am reassured by the fact it works OK on you and your buddy's car.

But I do not agree about the sucked in / forced in discrimination.
An obstruding step on the air path is two restrictions in one, it is not me saying it, it is a certain David VIZARD.

On the other hand if the step is an expanding one as seen on exhausts, then I do not bother, it is a good step.

Anyway, looks like there are no more dedicated inlets for 998 or maybe 998 guys usually don't change them ...
Or maybe it is of no consequence.

But if someone (say Paul S) was willing to simulate the difference between a 30 mm inlet tract and a 35 mm inlet tract on a 998, all things being equal, I believe we would find a noticeable difference in mid range torque.

i have a 2 inch stainless fletcher lcb wich i got for when i put my turbo lump in and its currently on my 998 and it sounds great nice deep burble and the higher the revs go the nicer the sound. Never had a problem with lcbs but i guess its how its fitted

Done now needs redoing lol
