Hi,
Im in the early stages in collecting bits for my 998 turbo build and my original plan was to rebore the 998 engine in my mini but i came accross a rebore block the last day for sale bored +20, im wondering if its ok to changeover the studs and bolts in my engine to a different block and also is there anything i should look out for on buying a block, its been idle for a while so has light surface rust but doesnt look too bad, also i dont know if its been decked or not.
Any ideas whats it worth?
Any help appreciated.
JP

Yep, everything can be transfered. even at +20 you might struggle to get some decent pistons.

What would be the best rebore to go for so,
i think i read on the fourm somewhere that +80 and up pistons are better.
Would i be better off sticking with my own block and getting it rebored,

+20 is ok, but you need to check what pistons are available. I know the ones Minispares did are no longer available, and the repleacements are only in +40s.

Minisport australia do a +20, inclucding tax and shiping a set will be £200.

+80 may be possible, but no point for a turbo setup IMO.

Cant seem to find them +20 ones at minisport (http://www.minisport.com.au/category5_1.htm)
And the +40 ones are dished, i plan on using a 12g295 head which i think still has the 28cc chambers so would dished pistons bring the cr too low for 10psi boost.
Another thing is that the block im looking at might be decked, the owner doesnt know, any way to check this and also would this effect my cr much.

What pistons and are you using wil

I could be completely wrong bout the +80 pistons, just though i read it somewhere.

Thanks for the help wil.

+0.020" 998 flat topped pistons, other than the original slipper pistons seem to be like gold dust :(

You can only check if a block has been decked by measuring it. It should be 8.625".

They are the same as the Minispares P20950 pistons.

I've just bought some +0.040" and +0.060" for future stock.
