Hi guys on removal of my engine for re-build and upgrade I have found the most unsightly bit of welding on the back of the block. Anyone else had a block welded for any reason??. Was running fine before removal just not sure if it's worth putting back in. Any help would be apracated.

Looks more like a fault with the sand casting to me

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

As above. If you are bothered you could carefully grind it back with a carbide burr. Or just leave it as it is, it has been working as an engine for 20-odd years, so if it was going to cause any problem the chances are it would have done so by now.
