Found this turbo engine on ebay. Has had some fairly serious money spent on it and a lairy cam. Just wondering if it was any of you guys?



I'm thinking of bidding on it as a good starting point for my build!!!

Looks like he has built it as a NA engine using a turbo engine as a base in the mistaken idea that it is stronger/better.

286 cam a complete waste of time for a turbo engine, and pretty much a waste of time for anything thats going to be driven on the road, as I found out a few years ago.

If you are thinking about buying it, you need to find out as a minimum, what pistons? what cylinder head? what CR?

I take it you've emailed him for pics and stuff? do you know if by MG metro Turbo he's saying it's a 1275 and comes with all the turbo items. The head also sounds OTT for a turbo engine and the 286 cam makes it all sound like a NA engine built from a turbo engine.

I have to say the 286 cam is a cracking cam for any NA road car 1275cc or over. Now if you mean the 296 then this is a wee bit lumpy unless your up in the 1400cc range then it's a stump puller from around 2800 to 7500rpm.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

OK, I'll edit that to "Any car used in traffic". I had one in a 1293 NA with a decent head and an HIF44 and it was a complete pain in the rear.
On the open road, a great cam like you say.

yeah got the pics but thought better of it, pembrokeshire is the other side of the country!!!! Will look for something a little closer to Norfolk or Surrey, any help???

286 kent in a turbo motor UH!!!

GREAT!

if you do your shopping around cadwall park track

and you have to do a min of 5 laps before you pull up to put the groceries in LOL!
