Hi everybody !

Can someone tell me which is the minimum engine spec to benefit of the Avonbar phase 2 cam over an MG or Kent 266 camshaft ?

Thanks for your help.

Hello guys I'm from France and since my 18th birtday I 'm dreaming of a turbo engine in my Mini. I'm here to do it !

well my opinion is if your goin to fit a cam mite aswell fit what seems to be the best cam goin for the turbos then any later engine upgrades cant do any harm meaning you'll not want to change the cam at a later date & iam sure they say you can get an extra 8bhp from this cam in a std engine with std boost like i say just my opinion

Well if your target power is only 120bhp, with standard box and drops then theres no point.

If you intend to turn the boost up and have other parts such as a well ported head and a gearbox that can take it then it is worthwhile. It really depends what you want from the engine.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

As a starting point I plan to keep the standard CR of the Metro turbo engine, so I will be limited with boost.

For the engine I already have a Morspeed stage 3 head (with 35,6 mm inlets and 29,4 mm exhausts), a modified plenum with a ford escort intercooler, and an ultralight flywheel and clutch kit from MED, I'm collecting parts for a megajolt.

For the transmission, the mini will be fitted with an A+ gearbox with a 2.9 FD and 10 inch wheels, a cross pin diff, and straight cut drop gears.

I do not know what sort of boost should be reasonable with this buid spec, and so if an Avonbar phase 2 cam is a benefit over an MG or Kent 266 cam.

Here is the question...

You don't say what cc the cylinder head combustion chamber is?

no no no no, you need more boost! you can never ever come on here and say I have enough boost, that's just silly.

If your running a standard gearbox and standard compression I would use the MG metro cam

Dump 12psi into it with the megajolt and you should be fine assuming ignition and fueling are spot on.

Above 120 ish hp a+ gearboxes have a habit of stripping the input gear/laygear
