im trying to lock the gearbox, but i cant rotate the selector shaft anit-clockwise as stated in haynes, how the bloody hell do you do it, i done it once before but cant seem to do it on this one *angry*

to lock the box you need to tap the to sincros apart from each other so in affect your in 2 gears.

PM hogster if you get stuck as i've seen him do that to mine many a time*wink*

Have you got the diff cover off?

Then the outer sleeve over the gear selector can move outwards and then you can disengage the lever from the bell cranks......I think.......its one of those jobs I could do without thinking with a box in front of me but can't visualise it easily.....

aaaaah y, thats right. Y i had the diff cover off. i;ve got one of those MS anti leak kits and the aluminium washer was a little difficult to get out. your right tho, once thats out u can pull the shaft out more so it doesnt hit the fork.

Just been doing this,struggling till the sleeve what goes around the spring and bearing fell out !!! Looked in haynes book why do they tell you to take it out on a completely differant page than the turning it anti clockwise bit

Forgotten more than most ever know

Removing the whole diff helps you see what you are doing in the first place...
