Just generally looking at mounting points and the angle of which the rear belt of a 6 point harness is fitted. Also from a safety point, getting the angle right in relation to the seat.
There seems to be alot of different views on this. After abit of googling and comparing FIA guidelines and various manufacturers instructions, the angle appears to be around 20 degrees from the horizontal where belt exits the seat.
I'm a little concerned as mine is around 45 degrees. Not sure how to reduce this angle.
I could place a belt bar on the cage somewhere to obtain this, but then theres the mounting.
Alot of harnesses come with eye bolt fittings...where some pictures shows the belt looping round the bar without eye bolts.
Be interesting to see everyones views & ideas on this. Again, from a safety point of view....the wrong angle/mounting can be dangerous.

If you've got a cage, fit a belt bar. As easy as that!

I have a cage an no belt bar. Basically the nerer you can get to the belts being level with your shoulders the better. Any more than 45deg is not allowed. Basically if you do then in an accident you could get a compression to the spine.

As Ben says, 45 deg to the horizontal is acceptable.

Ben, are yours attached to the rear firewall?
I have mine there and considering a belt bar…it feels a bit flimsy not sure if it takes a full on hitter?

This is one of the reasons why I brought this subject up Ben. Save someone any serious injury.

I've seen one where the belts attach to eye bolts on the floor then over a belt bar then to the seat.
Also, I have'nt seen any harnesses without eye bolt fixing on the rear belts. Do people just cut them off for bar mount?

We have significantly strenghtened the rear firewall to ensure everything stays put.

You can buy belts specificallt for attaching to a cage bar without the clips.

I shall have another look.
I was thinking of welding a bar on the rollcage. Have to read the Blue Book to see if mods to the cage are allowed. Cage maybe too old now for a bolt on from Safety Devices.

I have mine bolted through the rear firewall too, and some 7" x 4" plate on the rear which the eye bolts also bolted through.

Hey Jason. Have a look at my link to my build thread. I use a SD harness bar, but you could easily make your own to put on your existing cage. Hope this helps.

My belts came with instructions on how to remove the "eye bracket" and to wrap around a bar.

Had a look at my TRS instructions...it show both mount types, thats it. To be honest, problably just cut the eye bolt click off

You don't need to cut them off. they should just slide off when you unbuckle them.

I will get some pictures of my mountings later.

OK, here are some pictures of mine. In the boot I welded in a big plate. Then welded the I bolt plates onto that. I have also welded in the parcel shelf all the way round.

From the front it looks like this.

Carl & Ben, you are correct. Just had a proper look in daylight, just unbuckle them.
I shall just weld in a piece of tube between the bars that go to the turrets. :)
