I am new to this turbo game and I have just bought a metro turbo which I am removing the engine from, and while I have the engine out I was for fitting a cam. My question is can a Avonbar phase 2 cam be fitted to an otherwise standard Turbo engine? I will be tuning it furthur in the future but to start with it will be standard, but I would like to change the cam while the engine is out as most other mods could be done it situ. Also would the Phase 2 be better than an MG Metro cam, I am not worried about the extra cost if i thought it would make a difference?

The avonbar cam can certainly be added to your standard engine. I would definetly recomend getting it timed in properly though, i personally prefure vernia adjustable timing chains. (if i recall correctly it requires 110/108 degrees on inlet 1 after tdc)

Whether it will bring any benefit i'm not too sure to be honest. I personally run one of these cams, but in a very low compression engine for use with high boost. I think it is 10x better than the metro cam in this respect.

Im sure the other guys will have lots of views on cams!! It seems to be a hot topic at the moment

It will make more power than the standard cam for the boost that you can throw at a standard / mildly modified engine for sure.

After that - who knows!
