Remember that the inner rim offset is fixed on a 2 piece wheel. So all the extra width goes on the front of the wheel and hence moves the centreline outwards. So you need to decide if you want super wide for looks or not as wide for handling.

Mine are 6 inch wide with a032, suppose it depends what look you are going for. I didnt want the wide arch strecthed tyre look. The car drives just the same as my old Star Mags :)

how do i go about getting them done with fastcarl? Click the link at the top and send him an email. He sealed up my 3 piece splits so I didn't need a tube. He can probably do that with 2 piece wheels, but you would need to do any refurb work before sealing them. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

Yeah I run tubes, I don't know if it's possible to seal them you would have to ask Carl. I didnt want them scratching so built them up myself :) |

Staggered wheels are such a nuisance. Get the same, do yourself a favour. Don't succumb to the "good looks". On 13th Jul, 2012 Ben H said:

This makes no sense to me. Widening the rear track will offer more rear grip and a more stabe rear end, the opposite of what you like?

I have gone for 7's for my new car, but it will not be forced induction. I wouldn't go over 6" for a turbo car, the scrub angle will make it a pig with torque steer.

My old mini ran 4.5" at the front and 6" on the rear, as the rears were stretched it gave a less grip i found so the more tail happy began, with 4.5's all arround i found i got more understeer, i was basing this for the force wheels either way this is what i have and will use plus i like the look of the wider rears on it. Im not to bothered about loads of torque steer i will end up using eps on it most likley and will have another wheel and tyre setup for drag anyways

I can see no reason to run different sized rims front to rear on a mini that is ti be used on tarmac. I run 5mm spaces on the rear which works for me as it balances it up nicely. The rear toe setting is a another way to alter the balance of the car, or if you have them, tweeking the ARB(s). But choosing different rim widths seems odd. Interestring theory, I can't quite get my head round it though as it goes against all suspension theory. I guess you could get the same effect by pumping the rears up a bit. Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

You probably can but as i already have the wheels i will not be changing it. I dont base it on a theory i base it on what i have experianced also the drift boys seem to do it more stretched rears for easyer brake of traction. Drives

That has to be more of the reason the drift guys use stretched tyres on the rear, to stop tyre roll, and the give more control and predictabe handling going sideways. |
