Anyone heard of Zenec headunits - good or bad?

I'm looking for a factory look headunit for the golf with bluetooth (read: the wife doesn't want a separate handfree kit as she prefers a factory look). I've seen these advertised at the higher end of the range but have come across an slightly older model within the price range I'd prefer.

as they don't have the alpine, kenwood, pioneer branding I can rely on, i'm not sure what to think as there are a fair few chinese copies of the factory units that apparently fall well short of reliable

Nakamichi is top stuff and very OEM looking, pricey though.

Not heard of Zenec

yes, heard of them as well and agree on price!

this unit is car specific so no adapter plates and the like to make it fit the dash

Not heard of it either.

However have you looked into "DENSION" adaptor modules? They do some trick stuff for i-pod and phone integration into the OEM head units.
I have bought one that allows my ipod or iphone music to play through the OE headunit will full control via the head unit, and display on the dash.

Some of their more expensive ones do bluetooth phone as well.

Well worth a look anyway, as you can then keep the std head unit.

already looked at the dension (and fiscon)stuff but it won't work with my headunit (poverty spec) without the multi-function wheel; I could retro-fit this but it going to add another £300 or so to the cost
