Got a mate with a clubby estate who's now got 2 kids and wants to try and find a way of getting some rear seatbelts fitted into it for the baby seats. Anyone got any idea's on how to do it, other than buying a people carrier, lol.

I was thinking of a small roll cage type hoop behind the rear seats and braced back towards the rear doors, but he also needs to keep the back useable with the seats folded down sometimes.

I can't think of a way of doing it so thought i'd put it to you lot and see what you can come up with.

Cheers, Nick :)

Might as well not have belts.

Gaffer tape em to rear bench.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

this would be my shout as well; OK he needs isofix seats but it can all be removed quickly when he wants to use the car as a load lugger as well

If you can fit isofix then don't even bother trying to fit belts - it is far superior!

These are they brackets I have:

They just bolt down to a suitably re-enforced bit of the car.

Pic's here:

Yep.

Those'll be the ones I fitted to your estate Eden when I built it. Really good for when Mum was ferrying the two grand-children to Mini Shows !

They're Securon I think. Red belts with three points of attachment.

The main retracting unit on each side is bolted to the rear of the rear wheel arch tub and there are then two other points; one's in the rear seat side bin where the anchor point for the belt is bolted through the front of the rear wheelarch and the other is the seatbelt anchor stalk bolted just inside the spare wheel well and this takes the stalks up the back of the folding part of the rear seat. Hence 3 points. Big washers are used to prevent pull through in an accident.

Eden, there should be a part number on the black retractor unit on the rear arch. That'd be useful to pass on to Nick as he should be able to Google the number to buy some.

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
