Right for the first time I am a bit on sure on what to do next with the mini, I was having a chat with my mate today about the rear turrets as I now have got a set of standard rear coilovers as the off-set top ones did not work with my setup.
This what I have been thinking-

1. Just cut the back off the standard turrets that are in the car and if I get good clearance between the wheel and the shock just box it off as close to the shock as pos, so I still can fit my tanks.

2. Make some all singing turrets out of some 4in tube or roll some up weld it all in and then piss about with the tanks to get them to fit. The good thing about this is that I can move the shock as far in to the car as I like.

3. If I go with 2 I may as well cut the hole floor out and weld in nice flat 2mm steel floor in and then make a nice tank out of alloy or if I leave the floor in I could make a round tank like Nics.

Also I have been thinking about a hydraulic handbrake setup in the car now I am on sure what the law will say the car is Jan 1964, as I what to do away with the cable.

So what are your thoughts then?

Thanks simon.

I think you should just use and enjoy it for 12 months.

Start with no 1 to see what the clearance is like, then if needs be do number 2.

Steer clear of number 3 as it will be a bit of a PITA to put back to standard (rear arches are easier than the boot floor).

Try 1. then if that does not work, try 2.

Alternatively wait for my torsion bar rear beam :)

I don't care about going back to standard mate, I was only thinking of cutting it out as it has had a bit of a patch up and so on over the years and its a right mess in places.

Yep, no1. If you ever cut out the floor though, dont replace it with 2mm steel, mine is only 1mm alloy.

Oh, you wont get away with the hydraulic handbrake unfortunately

I seriously doubt it!

O right I was not sure 2mm was a guess *smiley*

Strictly speaking no car should have a hydraulic only handbrake but the law is sketchy on it and I have been able to get through MOTs with it due to its age

I seriously doubt it!
