Can anybody tell me where there is a link to dyno test results for different engine build specs? I have only found one by AC Dodd at Mlmotorsport:

http://www.mlmotorsport.com/forum/index.php/topic,124.0.html

A huge problem I find is that there are lots of sources for selling go fast parts, but no reliable sources (including the yellow bible!) for telling you how much power you can expect from making the modifications. When I used to modify aircooled VW's there were several sources that specified if you want a 70 hp motor build this, a 100 hp motor build that, etc. The AC Dodd dyno site is the only one I have found that deals with A series motors.

because there are too many variations in every aspect of an engine build that could see very different power figures. Which is also the same reason Vizard mentions little of final hp figures, but he does go through step by step why things work and don't work, what you might expect to gain or lose, and if you read the book from cover to cover, you would understand that.

If an parts supplier were to say that a certain group of parts would give 100hp, and you built that engine with those parts and it gave 90hp, you'd be a little pissed as you thought you had bought 100hp. It could simply be down to a slightly differnt compression ratio, inlet manifold, type of carb, ignition advance curve, or any number of other things, including a different dyno that lost you that 10hp, that the parts supplier you bought the parts from cannot ever account for.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I read the yellow bible cover to cover when it used to be blue bible!.... And no way is it impossible to quote power figures based on engine build specs. The sad fact is most people don't know what sort of power to expect because they don't actually build engines, they just sell parts. Anyway, my question is are there any build specs with dyno tests out there other than the AC Dodd Mlmotorsport site?

I never said it was impossible to quote power figures for a particular engine spec, just that tuners don't because if your final results do not match your expectations, you are going to complain.

As for dyno sheets, other than the dyno shoot outs in the mags, probibly not. AC Dodd at ML Motorsport runs a tuning business, he also hosts his own forum and is happy to take the time and effort to post up his findings after a dyno session. Most tuners don't bother, or want to, and the information they gather from dyno sessions is their intelectual property, and if you want to take advantage of that, you have to pay for it. AC Dodd is not your 'normal' Tuner and thats why he comes well recomended.

There are plenty of people on here that will happily tell you their engine spec and post up a print out, if you only ask. They have nothing to lose by it.

Maybe we should start a sticky where everybody can post their build specs and results?
