Are any of you guys running forged JE pistons?
I had a chat with one of their uk suppliers at the NEC classic motorshow and he seemed to reckon a set of custom forged pistons for bmw TwinK Turbo application would be roughly £500 and 4 weeks lead time.

just looking at my options at the momment and would be interested in anybodys opinions

Accralites all the way, just get the valve clearance cut into them. The cuts will end up looking like its just a slot right across the top.

But if you are lucky enough to have £500 and don't mind waiting, why not.

Last time we heard of some one using the JE pistons, they found that they needed to remove about 6mm from the block to get the pistons flush, but the custon pistons might be different.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

If I were ordering custom pistons, I'd buy Wiseco with the low friction skirt coating

initially i was going to get a set of accralites but since they merged with omega the price has went up considerably.
MED do a FIS 18cc dish omega piston for £460 then it will be + machining cost for valve cutouts.

Si it would appear that that will be the going rate for pistons unless anybody knows where a set of accralites can be got for cheaper

Most companies will make you a custom set to whatever size spec you want.

Last time I bought 8 JE's, they were about £600 for 8, and took 3 weeks

Needed 4 replacements some time later. I'm sure the 4 were less than £400

Although pricing doesnt always work the way it should. And any company can add coatings or other features.
