My car is so modded now that it dosent feel like proper mini anymore. My misses has a 1275 with 12x6 wheels and I love driving it.

Who else loves to go out in a stock mini?

13.95 1/4 mile on a 2.95 fd. Carnt be that hard to beat!

My daily is a standard and very tatty '62 Mk1 with a 998 Cooper motor which is great fun to drive, although I havent driven it in a while

I seriously doubt it!

I used to love my old 998 clubman. It was as rough as you could get and I thrashed it everywhere it went. It was great.

Mine's been in the garage that long that i've completely forgotten how much fun they are to drive.
I'm now driving a standard 91 Mayfair about that's been bought by my nephew - i'm "looking after it" for a couple of months as he dosen't yet have a license.
Boy, are the memories flooding back - it's bloody great to drive and the bonus is that motivation to get mine done is greater than it ever has been!
I just hope he doesn't pass his test for a while, haha! *laughing*

I had a big push in motivation when I took John's mini a 1/4 mile to the test centre. That's probably why we're selling the engine out of the skip...

I miss mine from when i first bought it, problems and everything, theres something about the comfort from the lack of comfort a mini gives you that's so appealing!

The comfort of a standard interior is great for those long journies, especially with what little sound deadening they have. We've been on holiday to Cornwall camping in the white one we have twice now, and while it wasn't uncomfortable, it was tiring.

I'm currently building a standard (ish) 1994 Cooper, with a standard interior, full carpet and sound deadening, with a few other luxury items such as electric windows central locking, heated screens and mirrors. I say standard ish as it'll have a 100hp 1400 engine. Gearbox will have the economy gearset with a 2.9 FD. You won't know that the car is anything but standard, even if you were to look hard.

I absolutly love the white Mini I have built, but I miss the standard springy seats, soft ride and a sterio.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Thats why I built my MK1, the turbo became a bit impractical for the road. With the roads being soo busy these days, I stuggle to find a quiet time to open it up. *oh well*

The mk1 can be driven flat out without breaking the national speed limit. *happy*

Warwick.

I feel like an odd ball, my daily peugeot broke back in july so i had my 1100 clubby on the road, got treated like shit for a month and i pushed to get the peugeot back running... i dont miss driving the clubby daily as i once did, lack of sterio is probably the clincher, that and the peugeot feels stable at what ever speed i feel to chuck it in a bend at

I'm trying to find the middle ground with my clubman. Relatively quick, but still have comfyish seats, some sound deadening and a gear set/final drive that a) isn't going to be screaming at 60mph and B) isn't going to make your ears bleed.

We ruined the metro van.

I'm glad mines nodded, its not built to drive everyday, its built to give me an adrenaline rush, uncomfortable, loud, I have a daily car to bob to the shops n etc, that's the whole point of a daily imo.

No we didn't, we ressurected it.

However I agree. Standard mini's are pleasurable to drive.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

it was less than pleasant on the motorway. should have taken ear defenders to the RR day!

My daily drive is pretty stock, have had to fit coilovers to the rear to get it through the MOT, and its lowered, but im going to put it back to standard.
Ive got a 12g202 and HIF38 to slap on it just to give it a little more poke. Apart from that its remaining standardish

It was a lot better last year with the T3 on it.

If the sound deadening was re-installed then it would have been reasonably quiet.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

This is the key to having a car that you actually use more than one a year.

My Sprint manages it perfectly. I might add more (some) sound deddening though as although it is not mega noisy, I always wear ear plugs.

I just need to sort the heating out now.

I'm thinking just bulkhead sound deadening on mine.

Since the van got sillier and sillier, we've used it less and less. It was just too fast for round town...
