Mild steel or stainlessis fine. I'll post a drawing shortly.

Yes yes very droll...

I've now attached a PDF.

These are to clamp a GT17 actuator back together once it's been chopped in two :)

Do you want 3 or 4mm thich and is the position of the holes critical, do you know the PCD and spacing?

4mm would be better. The spacing/number of holes is not critical, but I will need around 2mm clearance from the inside edge.

Thanks Jon

Will try and get a quote tomoro. I am collecting some bits on Friday but doubt they would have them done for then as they are usually booked up a few day in advance so assuming you were happy with the price it would be 7-10days for delivery, is that OK?

Give Ralph a shout. He'll be able to waterjet them out no problem at all

Although I would wonder why on earth you're cutting an actuator in half

I'm fed up with bleeding my standard 6psi actuator to 20psi and the boost spike issues associated with doing so. Yet I'm too tight to fork out £100 for a Forge jobbie.

This way I'll be able to mess around with different/multiple springs to set the boost pressure on the actuator alone to around 15psi as this is the minimum I've been using.

I've tried more preload which has done absolutely nothing.

Hopefully it'll seal up properly :/

I found it easier to buy an Ebay actuator which is screwed together like you intend to do -cost about £10.

Glad you think like me - that its better to have an actuator that gives the boost you want rather than frigging about with bleed valves. (Robert professes not to understand my attitude on this)

Cheers Jon.

Tadge, I've only seen the expensive Forge type on eBay. What was yours listed as?

Why would you pay £100 ? that's just stupid. It's just a plain old garrett actuator same as fitted to any car. Unless you're using something different ?
Even a typical -31 is around £70 and is pretty close to 15psi
I think the -34 is is closer to 20psi.
Give Motorsport Developments a shout, they sell them and list on egay

or Ive a pair of old 15psi ones here. I say old, but only used them on my TT RV8 for 2-3 years so old but still shiny and gold.
I had a 22psi actuator on my old Mini

IMO fucking about trying to butcher an actuator will be more hassle than it's worth, and they are a bit awkward to get at to keep removing and swapping.

Other option is a better boost control method, although that will be more expensive than an actuator, and may still not be perfect. But any form of electronic control will be better than a manual bleed.

I was referring to the Forge type which are £80-£100.

I've seen the £70 T2 type ones that Motorsport Developmenys have, but I'm too tight for those too.

This is just a bit of an experiment. Im not usually into pointless experiments, destined to fail. But it should be cheap as chips and will allow me to adjust it to whatever I fancy.

I,ve just had a quick look and I agree, I must have been lucky in the past as I have never spent more than £15 on one.

Look at item number 140647417645 - sorry I dont know how to post a link

Thanks Tadge. I've been watching that one. They all seem to go for around £50, which isn't bad.

The problem I'd have with that one is I'd have to make a new actuator bracket.

And how much time, effort and petrol will be wasted trying different springs etc....and then the cost of a new actuator after it gets destroyed during the process lol

Really, spending £70 for something you know will work first time, really makes sense in every respect

if i need a high boost actuator i get ones for mitsi evo's off ebay and modify the brackets/rods to suit. use these as there nice and compact :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40...-All-Categories

or actuators of any diesel as they run 15-30psi depending on application.
