what version of windows do you have? Is it 64-bit?

If you get the parts for when I collect that gearbox (probably next week now, Lisa isn't up for a jolly to the see side just yet).

I'll fit them for you.

Ok!

Right not much you can do with the graphics card as the machine only has a 220w PSU in in. A 6950 recommends a minimum of a 500w psu and it needs 2 x 75W PCI express power connectors.

The ram is not really an issue to upgrade is it's DDR3 1333MHz so cheap enough at moment.

If you a really wanting something speedy you are going to have to build a new rig.

cheers for the offer andy its not the doing that got me head scratching it was the matching of speeds and the fact that they run at the slowest componant speed. thanks john i had been looking at http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/G-Skill-8GB-2x4G...=item415f405297
would it be best to get 2x sticks at 4gig or 4 x sticks at 2 gig as i have 4 banks of 1if you understand my lack of knowledge

I'd be tempted to get 4 x 2GB sticks as if the mobo supports of max of 8gb in 4 slots it's liable to be the limit.
