Well, due to a change of direction with my build and not being able to take this out to 1380 due to the liners being there (wouldnt have been a problem boring out to 1293) i now have to sell this!

I bought this as a short engine with other bits and pieces, and stripped it down as it was being changed anyway.

The block has new cam followers fitted, new bearings throughout i believe, the centre main will be included but the centre main needs machining flat for this. Theres a little paper stuck to one side where i started to paint the block but isnt really a problem. I think this is a fresh(ish) bored set of liners too, but have some very light surface rust from storage.

The Pistons are standard 1275 dished pistons, The rings look brand new to me (have a little bit of white paint still on one of the rings), they are fitted to A+ rods which are very clean.

Not very sure on the value of this lot, looking for about £80? somebody correct me if i'm wrong!
Collection only, located in DY5.

It won't be a problem boring that to 73.5 though...

Really? I wouldn't have thought it would've been an easy task with liners, or if there's enough meat left without the liners in.

The liners have to go obviously. Measure the OD of the liners...

They look to be thereabouts 71/ 71.5mm using a tape measure, i don't have anything more accurate to hand.

Surely the point of the liners was that Leyland went through a bad period of about 2 years with porous castings - and that's why they linered them.

It may just be folklore, but if it's true, removing the liners and boring even bigger could give you an even more porous casting :)

It would need to be bored then checked with dye penetrant inspection, you may get away with it, may be a waste of money, that's the gamble.

I'm assuming this was to bring the bore size down on this one, because of how fresh the cut in the bore looks, i could be wrong.

It could also be because it had a conventional rebore and went porous - so liners had to be fitted.

Do you have any history as to why someone would want to sleeve down a size or two ???

Not a clue Rod, all brings me back to my original post though doesn't it by sourcing another block!

Right, after a few questions ive discovered the block in need of a +20 rebore after finding a lip at the top of the bore.
So, selling the block now on its own with the main caps £40.

Bump on this, still after a p/x on a worn out +40 block etc suitable for a 1380 bore.
