Bearing in mind I have only just picked up the car...

Whats the typical cause of a miss fire than comes on just as you move between vac and boost...?

The car is running very rich all the time, you can smell/see and the lambda guage says so! But... as soon as it comes on boost the miss has gone and it flys (really flys!).

T-piece trick?

Is there any oil in the dashpot?

LOL!

Good point, talk about ignoring the obvious! Not checked, then again I've only driven it twice.. and once was getting it home :)

So far I've only checked the oil.

What dash pot oil do you use Dave? I've always gone for engine oil (20w50).

Heavier the better. I stopped using Valvoline 20/50 in my engine, but retained the 1/4 gallon I had left for the dashpot - it's a really heavy, almost treacle like goop!

Now I'm having problems finding anything other than Valvoline... *frown*

Forgotten more than most ever know

The famous oddball hose between the carb flange and RH side of the carb still connected ??

yes it is... not the original one thou...

The extra connection (as in the float chamber pressure link) is blocked off at the moment...

Try blocking that hose completely. It does odd things to mixtures. Blocking the hose richens the mid range mixture and usually helps hesitation. Don´t know if it helps in your case but try it anyway.

Do as Jukka says, block the pipe with mole-grips or similar then take it for a spin.
Tee piece trick is for when it won't run on boost; Yours does.

It has...

Power run on a charity RR shoot out...

Not quite the same thing as a setup!

The problem is since its last setup the acatuator and a few other things have been changed... so its def overfueling for a start!
