Just had this dropped on my drive today

A test drive for wifey, she is allowed a company car but has been sticking with her (non-company car) Fraud Focus for far too long.

She's already tried another Ford (Fiesta) and it was crap so I suggested she tried one of the Binis.

Having just driven it up/down the drive to turn it around, it's impressive. 1.6 diesel, six speed and quiter than my Ford TDCi 6 speed (when it's actually working) and full of totally un-neccisssary buttons.

But the guy who delivered it.........

That's another story......

Grumpy as hell as he was by himself and had come from Stevenage (according to the paperwork) and when I asked him what time it would be collected on Thursday he just moaned about train times to Halesworth (my nearest small town) and it being a two hourly service.

So I asked if he had a taxi to collect him today... "No, if your local pub is open I'll go down there and try to book one for this afternoon...."

As he was obviously going to drown his sorrows for being associated with BMW, I didn't bother to mention that the main intercity line, Norwich/London, is only 7 miles further away than the branch line and I could have got him a taxi there for little more than he would end up paying from the pub.

I'll tell him on Thursday when he comes to collect it :)

Well I didn't know that.....

But if it's the Peugeot/Citroen developed version rather than the earlier one by Ford themselves, I'd be happy to recommend it :)

(all the problems on the TDCi engines seem to be on the early ones that Ford designed by themselves)

A friend of mine had a cooper s works, it shit itself as he tried to start it for work at 8am tuesday, it was collected at 9:30am tuesday and dropped off for him at thursday afternoon with a rebuilt top end. All with a courtesy car, all depends on the individual you encounter I suppose though.

Turbo parts collector at the moment, almost ready.

The Focus 1.8 TDCi is a ford enigne - the lynx derived from the realld old 1.6 kent diesel from the 80s!

The 1.6 is a PSA engine - the only input ford had was in head design and calibration for Euro 4, they are all PSA produced.

The 1.6 is a cracking engine, the 1.8 is utter shite(having driven both). as an aside i have a 55 mondeo tdci that has killed its pump and filled all 4 injectors with swarf, along with the remaining fuel system, and delt with many similar through work. less than happy with fords, shame as it went well..

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)
