Hi guys

I filled the dashpot with 3 in 1 dashpot oil and the engine run fine, i then went to start the engine again and it wouldnt start i checked my dashpot and all the oil had gone so i refilled it and it started first time after about 5 minutes the oil had gone again and the same another 2 times.
I havnt had the carb apart yet but wondered if anyone has had the same problem before and would a rebuild kit solve this.

Any advise would be great
Cheers
joe

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

i mix mine 50:50 3in1 and 20w50 and never had problems with my n/a carbs. But you can buy the proper SU damper oil and its not expensive.

ring problems are down to wear or abuse but although annoying it isn't a show stopper

i just use the engine oil. when its a bit cold its a bit slow to react. but when the engine bay warms up and the carb gets warm it soon picks up and runs sweet.

I use 3 in 1 in my N/A, can't say i've ever noticed it decrease that rapidly, i.e. sometimes top it up once every few months if that!

Are you sure your just filling the centre shaft, rather than attempting to fill the whole area inside?
