Has anyone used the Megasquirt fuel controller to create a fuel injected turbo mini? Any comments on fuel injecting a turbo motor?

Read this thread for more info.

Yep, lots of people on MSEFI forum talking about injecting minis and a-series 5 ports. Not seen any in the success stories though, which kind of says it all. I'm sure it could work, just be prepared to have problems.

Yeah I have been looking at that. I did see somewhere someone was saying if you use 2 injectors in the trottle body from say a bike (ducati 2injectors as standard) and fire them alternating it should or would work. I have been looking in to it. Shame the engine doesn't fire 1324 the injection may have worked a little better.

Someone will make it work one day *tongue*

I've lurked here since this place only had 4 members. I've seen those threads already.*wink*

I was asking about the megasquirt system and to see if anyone here has used it to turbo their Mini.

I've heard of peeps doing it - but can't see why MS would be any more succesfull than other 'systems' unless someone has written some code to get the injection event where it should be...

With a wet manifold - it's certainly do-able. Worth the effort? Not so sure...

Has anyone considered using a 7 port head? AKM in denmark used to make them not sure if they still do or not.

Would probably be the best chance of sucess, cheaper than an 8 port, and doesn't need special cams.

But can you still call it an a-series.....

Somewhere around Swindon

i looked at it a few years back

theprice is crippling its £1200 for a bare head then you need it machined up ect for turbo use then you need throttle bodies and engine management, you are looking at 3k if you do it on a budget and the ports on the seven porter are far far far to big

IMHO 3k goes a long way into making a quick turbo 5 port engine not just a head

saying that when i get the insurance money from my accident i may make an investment in the seven port direction, i belive a company is making 7 port heads in new zealand with smaller inlet ports

Is that right about Minisport?

If you look on the AKM webshite they just sy that Minisport are a supplier, rather than a manufacturer.

I still want one.

I read in either miniworld, or mini mag, that minisport bought the rights

Minisport have indeed bought the rights of production.

Also, I'd much more prefer an 8 port BECAUSE of that it needs a new camshaft. The fact that it uses the same is a downside in my eyes.
To get rid of the two hot exhaust valves in the middle would be GREAT.
