Hey guys!

So ive been over to autosport labs reading their wiki and the only thing I cant get my head around is the shielded cable and earthing it.

so I chopped out the EDIS 4 diagram to save space:

Basically i cant get my head around the cable shield and earthing it.

If I bought shielded cable how would I go about earthing it?
Would i cut a load of the plastic off to get to the shield and then attach a wire to the pins on the edis? Do I just connect it to a wire and earth it?
Do I even need to earth it if I bought shielded cable in the first place?

Everything else seems easy enough just connect wires here and there.

With regards to the molex plug and rev limiters and tachometer:

Does the coil pack power supply conenct to the megajolt directly? Im guessing this is a yes in order to cut power to be able to limit the revs

The wire that goes from the coil to the rev counter atm - will I just connect that to the correct part of the megajolt molex plug and then it will work also?

Many thanks for your help so far *happy*

I've used the cable from the escort i got my stuff from. the sheilding simply loops into the earth cable - its a bit like a co-ax cable

Yep, you need to earth the shield, but only at one end.

have you guys got a photo ofhow you connected it, because all I can imagine in my head is having to chop the wire to get to the shield to connect it to a different wire ?

Actually, join the earth shielding to wire and then to earth. Just solder it or crimp it.

just found this, I can see from the bottom image that I was getting confused for no reason. Im guessing all of the shielded cables have it poking out the end like that and as such you can ground it easy enough :)

I can join the two together and then ground it in one place right?

Megajolt and edis both need 12v. the edis gets it on number 8
