Hey guys!

I thought I'd finally join after lurking around for a while *tongue* My name is Scott, I'm 18 and I'm a photography student in Glasgow. I was bit by the Mini bug at a early age and currently have 2 Mini's. My first, a Mini Studio 2 powered by a 3 cylinder Suzuki engine named "Minuki" And my second, a 1990 Cooper RSP called "Sammy" which I will have on the road by April next year.

Because I have the Cooper, myself and my father have decided to go a bit nutty on Minuki *happy* I'm planning to turbo it and have it somewhat close to 500Kg's with 180bhp, which is should do very easily and reliably(The engine is turbo'd as standard in America) Is that weight figure realistic? I plan on using it on the road, so there will be sound deadening etc.

Anyway, enough rambling! Hello everyone!

Getting down to 500 kg takes some work.

Although its possible to get down to around 400kg as has been shown by Paul Wiginton. I think his aim for next year is to go below this mark.

Essentially, you need to look at every component and see if it can be lightened, made in a lighter material, or made in another way.

Welcome and as said 500kg would be quite hard. Look at Paul's sprint and Chris dillows mini.

Do not underestimate how much work you will have to do to get near 500kg. Forget sound deadening for a start.

Appreciate the welcome guys *happy*

I still have a lot of work to do on the Cooper before I'll be able to start on Minuki. If I find some time, I might post a quick build thread to show you lot where I'm at.

After reading some more builds, I've realised that having a road going Mini at 500kg is a little bit optimistic! *tongue*
