Yes, the BMW one....

I know a few of you have the Binis as other cars and or wives/GFs who do and most comments I've seen have been positive, so I thought I'd ask...

The Clubman (or Estate as it's advertised in some places) has this weird suicide door for the back seats but it's on the RHS (driver side in the UK) and was slated when it was released in the UK for being on the wrong side for the UK.

They don't seem to have changed it to the safe side for the UK market since release so it's still part of the door that opens onto the road.

Anyone own one, or been out in one, and can make a comment. It seems to be the only negative thing about the Clubman/Estate from the Googling I've been doing.

Reason for asking, wifey has the option for one as a company car. What they gave her to test drive was top of the range Cooper S hatchback and, not surprisinly, she wants one. But unless she pays the extra, the company will only give her the Clubman.

is the back door not on the drivers side so the driver (when no front passenger is present) can monitor children or similar getting out of the back of the car?... if the door was on the passenger side would it not make things like that more difficult?

ye prob know already but rx8's have the same suicide doors

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

The rear windows have a big gap down the middle where the doors meet. Makes for a big black hole in the rear view mirror.

I think the logic goes that children would be supervised in/out by the driver anyway (who would be out of the car by then) so the door opens onto the pavement in the rest of Europe, but in the UK it opens onto the road.

Like I say, it seems to be the only real negative comment.

Interesting, hadn't thought of that one.

But I'm not convinced she uses the rear view mirror anyway......

Doesn't look too bad in the pictures, but I'll bet it's a mile wide in the mirror

There are a few near me all owned by familys one family has got the countyman and clubman seem to be quite popular, it must be pritty easy to control the kids just like getting out the back of an rx8. As for the rear alot of vans dont have rear windows why do you need them? Just get one with parking sensors jobs done.

Drives
-Ford S-max Mk2 Ecoboost
-Rover 100 VVC #2 - track project

Searching is all you need on TurboMinis
