Not very sunny swanage

anyone done this? is it a diy job, or do you need toys like reamers similar to the radius arms? i can see rebuild kits for sale, but dont have reamers etc, so will only go down this route if its a fairly simple job!

ive just spent the last 2 hours looking through a shed pakced from floor to ceilling with mini bits, and from all the minis ive broken it would appear i have precisley NO spares!!!!! grrrrr. gonna have to sort the shed out soon, its listing to about 15 degrees to one side!!!!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

I'm 99% sure it's just two roller bearings, hence a vice/press and a few sockets!

Dave is correct, two roller bearings. Be aware though that it really is an awkward job getting the old ones out.

I would personally get a good second hand one from a mini breakers and fit that rather than the hassle of trying to sort your one out.

If you were MacGyver, you'd just use the slide hammer contained within your penknife to remove the old bearings of course...

MacGyver would not concern himself with such a piddling matter as top arm bearings. Instead he would be constructing an ingenious plan to convert said Mini into a hovercraft using only his trusty penknife, some bog roll, and some fishing line........

I did by myself and thought is was a piece of pi$$!

Then again my mini is 25 years old this year so maybe bearings were so worn they were easier to get out.

The kit I bought from mini spares included roller bearings nylon bush to go between them and and these really thick washers that have an oil groove in one side and the rubbers to go over them.

I found getting the arms off more hassle than replacing the the bearing by far.

I have the kit for the rears in the garage that ive had for about 6 months now, still meaning to do them maybe now the weather is picking up!
