Probably a HIF44. Whip up a pic and one of us will soon tell you!

Is there an easy way to tell the difference ie: markings on it?

All i really could do with knowin whats the diff between HS4 1-1/2" and HIF6/44" and which is more likely to fit my car cos i cant tell the diff by looking at each of the diff filters

Late non cooper 1275 mini's had 38's on.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

HS carb has an external float chamber for a start. Also measure the opening of the carb at the butterfly end. 44mm=HIF44

1.5" carb. Float bowl integral is a hif38, on the side a hs4.
1.75" carb, float bowl integral is a hif44, on the side a hs6.

thanks for the help everyone, measured it today and it was 38mm so anyone else who has a 1993 spirte head up for you lol, disapointed though cos measured my old turbo carb and that was a 44mm and i take it bigger means better

anyone no brake horse between the two? or is that a little sad lol

bigger isn't nessicarily better, if its too big you will loose power, the hif38 is actualy quite decent on a standard 1275. a turbo would need more fuel/air mix hense the bigger carb

hif38 would probably give more torque lower down the revs on a standard-ish 1275.

I actually noticed the difference in low down torque when i swapped from my hs4 to a hif44 on my old engine. I'd already taken the plunge and bought the hif, but they're better designed imo.
