Shropshire.

It's good to share, but some of the maps have taken lots of time, trial and error / many expensive hours on the rollers to perfect.. I'm sure someone has a 'base' turbo map tho, similar to the dizzy equivalent for you to start with.

John posted one up for the metro van. That did pretty well. Have a search for it.

Most people do share their maps, be it MJ, MS or anything else. Just have a search.

The problem here is that there are no two engines the same and most map are fully optimised anyway.

I am about to drop my engine into my Mini very soon and then I'll have to tune my MJ map as well. This might seem like a very stupid question to all of you, but how should I optimize my map so it suits my engine perfectly?

The map that is on it is already pretty good. It was the one from the upside down skip.

The way to optimise a map is to run the advance on the raggedge of detonation.

However, this is a bit dangerous for the health of your engine (and pocket). also, from my experience the last couple of degrese advanve on a turbo motor make minimal differance to power.

There is a bit more to it than that. When I say that most maps are not optimised I refer to the whole map. If you look at the map for the hillclimber the WOT and on boost bit is well developed after lots of trial and error, but the cruise area is pants and the tickover is not great either.

Best way to optinmise it is to log log log. Then make changes and log log log. Can you log on an MJ?

I decided to go the naturally aspirated route and got myself a 1380cc unit which will be fed by a Hif44. Restrictions here in Austria unfortunately make it almost impossible to run a turbocharged A-series engine. I suppose the existing map is optimized for a turbo engine?

Cheers

I think there are a few on the autos port labs site for NA engines

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
