Sheffield South Yorkshire GB.

OK guys, can I ask whats the best way when you have just completed a rebuild to the engine and gearbox, is the best way of getting and checking the oil is at the turbo and engine.. Thanks Alan

Pretty sure it's just a matter of filling the oil filter with oil, pour some down the hole after youve taken the pipe off the block that goes to the oil filter housing (top left of the block) then turn the engine backwards, or roll it backwards on the floor in 3rd. Then crank it over and try for oil pressure i believe!

Prime the oil pump and filter, take the plugs out then crank it over until there is pressure. It can take a good minute or so to get oil pressure if all the galleries are empty.

yep as above,

pour a bit of oil dont rhe tranfer pipe hole so it goes int the pump then spin it with the plugs out,

once oil presure is seen i like to spin it a couple more times just to get oil everywhere.

from the turbo's point of view as long as there is pressure it's ok to fire it up.

I know how you feel mate when i was cranking for oil pressure i unhucked the turbo oil drain and ran it down into a cup to make sure
starting a new engine and bedding the cam in later to find the turbo had no oil...cringe :( i was taking no chances on that

When we put the GT17 on the van, I left the oil drain disconnected. Put about a pint of oil on the garage floor...
