evening all,

ive been building up the parts over the last few months to build a blow through supercharged setup. on a few of the posts ive seen that people are mounting the small nippon desmo alternators to the water pump jockey on the end of the supercharger. does anyone have any idea how they are doing it and what parts they are using.

cheers all

Andy

cheers Yo-Han looks like he initially went down this route and then swapped over to belt drive from the back of the water pump. now not sure which way to go.

IIRC Jani eventually repositioned the altenator and used a seperate V-belt to drive it.
Do a search, there was someone else that did a similar thing.

Or be creative, lots of ways to get it done (MPI altenator maybe?)

ive got a nippon desmo tiny alternator (lower weight) so want to keep with that. will probably mount it at the back and run it by making a double water pump pulley. next question where can i get a double pulley made lol

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Vmax Scart makes pulleys with both multi belt and Vbelt on 1 pulley.

Hi there.

Today my engine bay looks like this.
That alternator what I use was too big for using that place and I decided to put it better place.

cheers Jani, are you running 2 belts or is it a single belt round the crank, waterpump, supercharger and alternator.
cheers

Hi Andy.

Yes there is a 2 belt system.
It was much easier to do it that way.

i got an mpi water pump pulley and welded a v belt pulley to the outside of that. spacered out the alternator towards the rad and went to halfords and found a correct belt. easy peasy

cheers jani, that makes life so much easier. on a side note how do you tension your crank to water pump to charger belt and do you need a lot of tension on it to stop it slipping. I remember the videos johnnysti had and you could hear the charger slipping alot.

Well the alternator work now perfect!
Yes I have also a lot of slipping first when I put firs time that 19% pulley to supercharger.
After that I make a lot stronger belt tensioner.... but it seems that I put it wrong place because now the belt get heats up a lot in long boost drive, this winter I plan to change it. Again...
Why I know that..?? Because my mate have almost same system in his car as I have but that belt tensioner is added there where belt is longest.
Between the crankshaft and water pump.

did you use the BINI tensioner on the water pump to crank section.

on a side note how do you find your blow through setup is it smooth to drive or lumpy

If I understand your question right..
I had not seen any front mounted setups before I do it in 2009 spring.
So me and my mate just decided to put it front of the engine because it is much cooler place to put supercharger to compared to put it top of the exhaust manifold.

I hope you mean this..

And it is quite smooth to drive.
