A little while ago i purchased this:

In order to build one of these:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9PIKdD78xc&feature=related

I have been collecting parts for four odd months and have 90% of the mechanical and electrical parts for a standard build however in the spirit of TM i would like to do it slightly different, differences so far are chunky wheels and tyres (thanks again Tom) and piverting axles as the standard cars get stuck on anything other than flat ground, they dont need to pivot much just 2cm a side i think, my old chap who is semi retired works for a auto electricians and they have sourced 1/2 scale lights for me *happy*

I expect i will be calling on some of you guys for your expertise in electronics and fabrication as Thomas is a bit wild i need to build it strong and have a remote kill switch

Will be picking up sheets of marine ply in the new year to start on the tub.

My dad made me a jeep similar to this when I was young, we canibalised a ride on lawnmover a push mower and used a lot of mdf to make the frame. It was really good fun, and probably sewed one of many seeds for my current unfortunate tendancy to make things and modify vehicles!

I'll try to find a photo.

I doubt many will be that interested but i am quite enjoying building this so will post up

Well due to other projects and toylander saying that its hard for a child under 3 to drive its been on a backburner

I picked up a motor and axle from a single seater golf buggy and rebuilt it however i still need to fabricate something hub wise.

Been waiting for plaster to dry paint to dry ect ect so in that time i have started on the body
started with standard 8x4 sheets of wr mdf

Made a jig out of 6mm mdf in order to use a copy bit in a router for the wr stuff

I decided rather than using the templates to draw out the dimensions onto the sheet

Steering is a bit crap on a standard build so i picked up a miniature steering rack from the states

This is a great project. I have looked in to this before, but sort of forgot about it when I bought an gocart for my oldest. Now I have a spare gocart wich are out of homologation, maybe that would be a good "spares car" for a project like this :)

I always loved the idea of these, but never had the time and my kids are a bit old for them now. Then my lad asked if we could build a gokart, so this is where I am at the moment.
