spent 2 days taking bits off and cleaning bits up and painting, end result (munis head and alternator and so on lol) i am verry happy with.

the only bit thats relaly getting on my t!ts is the clutch houseing/transfer casing, its got crap on it that nothign will take off, industrial strength degreaser/petrol/water*tongue* its not coming clean can scrap some off with a stanly blade but thats it, anyone any more ideas?
waiting for my head from morespeed before i can bolt it on, and x-pin diff, but i am happy with the engine so far, considerignt he state it was in when i got it*tongue*
poored petrol down the bores with all the pistons level and it held it for a long time so guess rings are fine theres quite a bit of resistance when turning by hand tho, is this normal, its not verry smooth anyway, is this normal or is something wrong?

thanks, Dan

Looks as though your hard work has paid off:) As for the clutch housing it could either be painted or you could polish it up. Just keep sanding it down with sand paper gradually using finer paper, then go over it with one of those polishing kits that you can bung on a drill. Takes ages but looks bloddy good.

Engine should turn over smooth as you havent got the head on it (no valves to operate and no compression). !!!!! Was the engine brought as a runner or has it been recently rebuilt??

Looking good.

Try wire wool on your clutch housing, it can work well at getting the crap off.

engine has about 60k on it, i havent hear/seen it running yet, but was told was running fine when the metro was parked up, i am worried now, i did compression test (by hand) and cylinder 3 was down ont he other 3 cylinders by about 20psi thats why i took the head off and orderd one from morspeed, worried about the bottom end now tho, is there any way ic an check it without seperating the block and box?

**please no flaming for putting a 60k engine in my mini and expecting it to work*tongue***

thanks! Dan

Completly coat the clutch houseing with oven cleaner leave for a couple of hours then wash it off using a scrubbing brush *smiley* (repeate if required). Worked fine on me both my clutch houseing and the pistons (note leave for about 5 mins on the pistons not a couple of hours)

I always clean my alloy bits with a wire brush on a drill thingy, works a treat.

the design shows a distinct lack of imagination,
talk about starting off with a clean sheet of paper, then not bothering to fucking draw on it,lol
