I am adding a backup trigger wheel to an MPi, in case I have any issues using the Rover sensors. This is just a bench test engine.

I know this is a redundant question and there are a number of threads covering this.

It appears the only markings on an MPi are the small notch in the pulley and the pressed markings on the timing cover.
I was just surprised the missing tooth lined up with the TDC mark on the pulley.
The KAD wheel was purchased from someone on here at least a year ago, so a tooth has already been removed.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Yes, that would help.
Does the orientation of the trigger wheel appear correct? The ninth tooth was painted white and is aligned with the sensor, so it appears correct to me. Just wanting verification...

It does look correct but since you won't be using an EDIS, it doesn't really matter. MS2/Extra can use any #1 tooth angle as a reference.

And in any case, you'll need to check your timing with a timing light, as you must for any new installation, so an adjustment can be done later.

You'd need to check where TDC is by removing the spark plug on cylinder 1 and seeing/feeling if it is at the top.

If the missing tooth is inline with the keyway (which should be at 12 o clock at TDC) then thats not TDC.

If the piston is actually at TDC in that position then where you have the sensor mounted looks to be right (90 degree BTDC). Which would also means the missing tooth is not inline with the key, but no big deal as the sensor is mounted in such a way to compensate for that.

Hope that makes sense?
