Hey guys :)

A friend of mine needs the dwell time for a stand alone build for a lucas dlb101? Been trawling google and can only find angles and not a time in milliseconds.

Cheers

Craig

Hypothetically speaking, where would you stick your nozzle?

Two variables here really Craig. How many cylinders and whats the peak rpm?

the percentage of time available to charge between when the ignition fires. Normally 30% of that.

4cylinder engine
So lets say 0.3x(720/4) = 54degree
Say the engine runs at 6000rpm.

((6000/60)/2) rpm down to rev per min all over 2 because the distributor runs at half the speed of the crankshaft.

50rev/s. 54 degree dwell.

1/50=0.02 or 20ms.

So (54/360)*20ms=0.003 or 3ms.

So.
(54/360)*(1/((6000/60)/2))=3.0ms
(54/360)*(1/((5000/60)/2))=3.6ms
(54/360)*(1/((4000/60)/2))=4.5ms
(54/360)*(1/((3000/60)/2))=6.0ms
(54/360)*(1/((2000/60)/2))=9.0ms
(54/360)*(1/((1000/60)/2))=18.0ms
