Unfortunately my girfriend had a little bump in our car yesterday, no damage to our car and a dent in the bumper of the other persons.

Sadly although insurance is supposed to cover you for these events, you would probably have been better in this instance to fork out to have the bumper of the other car repaired, not tell the ins co, and be done with it.

I'm pretty sure NC is tied to policy too. E.G if I bosh our gerts car (I'm a named driver) she loses no claims. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

If you are not claiming, how can they reduce your no claims bonus? It's a contradiction in terms. Fair enough mark your girlfriend as a risk, but it shouldn't effect your no claims.

Ask them for a defintion of what a no claims bonus is, it could be worded so that even if you have an incident but it doesn't cost them money they still use it as an oppertunity to screw you. On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

You may not be claiming but the other party is so your insurance is still paying out. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

The other person (third party) is making a claim but we are not which is why im confused as we arnt so why should it effect our ncb? Tbh im tempted to switch insurer and not mention a claim as there hasent been one and state what our ncb should be Drives

You are costing your insurance company money as the 3rd party is making a claim against you, therefore to reflect this cost you loose some of your no claims, I thought that would be fairly obvious. On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

If the third party is claiming then you will indeed loose NCB.

I supose the next stupid question is, if there is a claim against your policy, why have you decided not to claim, you might aswell as i wont affect anything else as theres a claim anyway. rick Crystal Sound Audio said:

There is no damage to our car so why claim? There is no point in paying our excess if there is no damage? Or am i missing something? And im not even sure the other party is claiming from us, my insurance company hadent been contacted by hers. It has been over 24h since it happened so surely they would have contacted? Its a pisser as she only needed a new bumper which is not expencive brakers sell then with same colour ect for under 200 pounds would have been cheaper than her excess ;-S Drives
