Thought id share some pictures of my other Mini.

I bought this 1977 998cc Automatic Mini clubman 3 weeks prior to the Riv Run 2008. It had only covered 27k and was in fantastic condition, having been garage all its life and waxoiled from new.

It completed the 1000 miles trip without any problems, but was very soon stript, to discover it needed no new panels or welding. Underneath the black tar were perfect rust free panels.

The car was fully stript to a bare shell and prepared for a new paint job, inside and out.

The Car was fully rebuilt, using new and fully recondioned parts including

New Geniune Power coated subframes
All new bearing, hoses, pipes
New Alloy calipers
New Ajustable arms and tracking brackets
New steering Rack
Blasted & Coated Fuel Tank
Late Mpi Mini Sport 500 Interior including, Dash, carpets, seats & door cards etc.
Late Spec Heater
New Wiring Loom
New Brake & Clutch Master cylinders
New Red dot Cones
New Adustagas Shocks
All New bolts etc.

All the panels, glass, chrome are orginal

Its new engine was a newly built 1350cc with omega pistons, 84mm Crank, S Rods, Stage 4 Head, 276Cam, 1.5 Rockers,, Yellow dizzy, 4 PinDiff etc.

Once complete it was left unused for about 14months, whilst work started on FOJ, my current lightweight trackday Turbo Mini.

Since then the car has only covered about 1000miles, but as been the test bed for different engine options including -

All Bhp are at the wheels

1262cc Shortstroke, M45 Supercharged, 8.5-1CR, SW5 Cam, HIF38 Carb, Custom Inlet, 2.76FD @ 109bhp

1262cc Shortstroke SW5 Cam , 9.4-1CR, HIFF44, 2.76FD @ 76bhp , then same engine with NOS @ 117bhp & 147lb torque.

1330cc, 5 Port, 266 Cam, Stage 4 Head, 3.44FD, HIF44, 10-6CR @ 74bhp

1330cc, 5 Port, SW10 Cam, Stage 4 Head, 3.44FD, 10.6-1CR @ 84bhp

1330cc, Webcon 7 Port, 2x Webers 40's, 3.44FD, 10.5-1CR @ 101bhp

Then I ordeded some AT Throttle bodies to replace the Webers, but never got around it fitting them.

The Interior as also undergone 3 Changes of seats from Leather sportpack 500 seats, leather 1275GT seats and the lastest offering from a set of Lotus Elise retrimed seats. Other plans to install a high end audio system including JL Audio Amps, JL Audio 10W7 Flagship Subwoofer, Diamond Audio high end component speakers is currently in design stages.

Im now considering moving to turbo injection to deliver mpg, smooth and quiet engine, but still pack a punch. The current 7 Port would make a far better trackday / race head, along with big cams in FOJ for some serious power and quarter mile times.

Yes all same rollers. The figures are at the wheels, BUT I know the dyno is showing about 10% to high. My Full race engine showed 126@ wheels, but was engine dyno'd 128.5 @ the flywheel.

Lovely clubman, but how on earth have you changed the engine so many times and not harmed the paintwork?

To be fair there is now a few scraches, but nothin major. I think ive got some kind of disorder, Ive dont keep an engine in for more than 500miles. Its not like there any thing wrong with them. I will find a engine that ticks all the boxes one day.

So far-

Orginal 1350cc - never used, but removed to supercharge for FOJ before it went through weight reduction

Supercharged 1262cc - Pretty Good, but starting problems and needed mappable ignition, should have stuck with it. The Hif38 and 38mm bore the charger improved thing considerably. MPG was really bad.

1262cc - same engine, different stage 4 stage to up CR. Very good, smooth, but lacking power

1330cc - SW10, Very Good, but only ever got done to compare difference with 7 Port

1330cc SW10 with 7 Port, disapointing power below 3.5k, again needed Megajolt to help & more time spent tuning the webers

1300cc - 266cam was ok but again to slow.

Hopefully 1330cc, T2 Turbo, SW5, Innjection, 2.76FD should be a good mixture.

£1600, if I can remember right, but I helped with quite alot of the prep work. I worked at the same paintshop when I left school.

What did you think of the SW5 in the short stroke? I've got a 1071 + 40 that I might fit an SW5 into,

It ran really well and very smooth. The car felt suprising fast considering it only had a 2.76FD. It ran out of puff at 5.7k, but still had loads of torque bottom end. I orginally fitted the shortstroke to lower the CR for the supercharger, without having to open the chamber on head. It could have been even better with a higher compression ratio.
