I love your outlook on this!

Don't turbo it, money pit, let's buy something to have a bit of fun in.

6 days later there is a turbo being offered up. I like your style.

Project is still under development!

Ive been running the car through the summer with the standard 1.4 engine and 1.3 gearbox. After a few dyno sessions and a few changes to the bolt on stuff inc porting the inlet manifold and fitting a AT Power Single billet throttle body, its now putting out 116bhp and 101flt/lb of torque. Which is far more than I ever originally expected.

The plan was always to fit a tuned micra engine, but it really doesn't actually need it. Combined with the standard micra 3.9FD 5 speed box, it really does shift and pulls strong from anywhere in the rev range.

I really cant recommend the engine conversation enough. I've had most A series configurations over the last 20 years and the micra engine is up there with the best of them. For £200 for a low mileage engine and box its a no brainer. Perfect for a fast road going mini. Especially considering the price of 1275cc A series engines.

That said, The new fully rebuilt engine is almost complete. Which as been revised to another cga3 1348cc v the cg13de 1275cc that was almost complete. The 2nd hand 998cc pistons have been dropped for a lovely set of forged Omega oversized pistons. The fully balanced engine will still benefit from a 11.5CR, Rally spec billet cams and fully ported head. Target is 135bhp and rev limit of 7800rpm on standard rods and new Nissan Con Rod Bolts.

Ive also built a hybrid gearbox to perfect the gearing for the 10" wheels and make best use of all 5 gears.

The gearbox is now based on a 16k miles 1999 facelift 998c close ratio gearbox with taller 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th. A crown wheel and pinion from a CD17 Diesel gearbox (3.789 v 3.895) & 5th gear from a coil pack Micra gearbox (0.733 v 0.756). This basically replicates a standard mini gearbox with a 3.44 FD, but then a extra 5th gear with a ratio similar to the Mpi mini 2.76FD. So cruising a 70mph is about 3445rpm v 3650rpm previously with 1.3 box. This hopefully should help with the wheel spin in 1st & 2nd and improve MPG slightly.

Good work Matt, looking great. What year is the standard 1.4 engine you are running at the moment out of?
I fancy this idea for my missus mini. *smiley*
Cheers,
Mark.

Engine is 2002. It's from a coilpack 2000-2003. Last of the k11's. There are bit rarer and widely sort after for the rally boys, but worth the extra effort for the 8bhp in standard form if your fitting a aftermarket Ecu.
If going Allspeed, bear in mind the frame is designed for the 1.3 (92-00) or 998 gearbox (98-00).

If you can get a deal on both the 1.4 cga3 engine and box, then I'd buy a 998 4.47Fd box and put the 3.895FD and 5th gear into it.

You would still need a flywheel and clutch assembly though.

I went a little micra crazy and bought several different engines
and gearboxes to get to were I am.

Cheers for the info matt, Did you have to modify the allspeed frame much to get the later engine to fit?

Not at all. It's the same engine, just different bore & stroke.
