It's illegal, yes. But there's plenty of shells with no id and parts knocking about, to me it would of been another mini on the road. it only becomes immoral when you use the ID to ring a stolen mini. Edited by wez on 13th Jan, 2012. one day boost will be mine!

I would have no probs buying a V5 so I could make use of all my spares and build a car. If I ever sold it I would tell the buyer what he was getting. People also go up in their ivory towers about reshelling minis too. Minis have been getting reshelled since the early sixties and not with brand new shells. |

Its all a load of bollox. You can buy a tax exempt rot box, then buy a heritage shell and everything else new and it technically be legal. But if you replace a shell with a second hand one from another car of the same age and reuse everything else from the original car it becomes illegal, even though it is more original than a new build. I think its the mindset of some people Wolfie, not the forum itself here, doesnt really matter if it were on an austin a36 forum or whatever, it would still be discussed if you get where im coming from.

To the average person this would be the assumption, but in reallity its two brooms put together to make one and has two identitieds, that the average person cannot determine. is it Triggers or Trevors broom?
