Yes. The coil is fed by the limiter rather than an ignition live.

hard cut is where it cuts the spark, sof cut is where it retards the timing. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:

yep, what actually happens is when your rpm limit is hit the limiter switches the feed to the coil through a resistor, this limits the power to the coil and causes an intentional misfire. In the 13's at last!.. Just |

ok to tried wiring this up yesterday and had a switched + to the coil pin (top left) and then took the rev limit (lop left third in) pin to the coil but it wasnt feeding the coil.

You must be a turnip I'm afraid as there's nothing you need to do software wise.

Have you actually got the hard cut board installed?

Have you actually got the hard cut board installed? Theres no point connecting the rev limit wire from the standard loom to the coil. As far as I know, if you order the hard limit board when buying your MJ, it will arrive in a separate bag. I'd be pretty certain that yours doesn't have one fitted. theres 2 options when you order the MJ, installed or not installed. i asked for installed...even says it on my invoice so one would assume its installed but as i'm leading to believe it prob isnt. i know it sounds like im being a right plank but i assure you its wired as you said earlier (as if it was there) and i wouldn't have even assumed it was there to wire or use unless i had picked it as an optional extra as its pretty obvious when ordering one. beginning to believe it isnt there or busted. will take it out after the set up and let you know. ta for you help theoneeyedlizard |

You're right. Best think to do is pop it open for a look.

ok so just catching up with this as i let it lie and just been enjoying the car & i hate it when you have threads with no working solution.
with a internally installed hard rev limiter, the megajolt supplies power to the coil pack. the wiring is this way:
COIL_POWER feeds power to the center terminal of the coil pack. (power to coil pack only comes from this source) REV_LIMIT on molex connector is left disconnected (this is only used if the rev limiter is outside the unit) +12V input to Megajolt is connected to a high current source (10-15A switched ignition) (Megajolt supplies power to coil pack) so it would appear the +coil that i thought would power the hardcut is actually the coil feed and the MJ powers the coil too. i'll test it later :) |
