Hi folks. Whilst tackling a number of winter jobs prepping the mini for the track (April hopefully) I've been thinking about oil temperatures. I'm running a metro turbo but no cooler and I don't have a temperature sensor or oil cooler. I'm thinking both would be recommended, I'd obviously look to fit the sensor first to get a baseline. Anyone any thoghts or recommendations on what to purchase, and if indeed I should be concerned in the first place? Cheers.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if your tracking the car an oil cooler is needed 6 row will do it

best oil temps are at 100c for power
the 6 row cooler will be sufficient.
a capiliry temp gauge would be best placed in the speed housing at horizontal level to the front.

try shopping around for the best gauge and cooler, hoses etc ........... merlin motorsport.co.uk are well priced and very helpfull

hope this helps

I've thought about the sump plugs with the sender adapter, do people recommend these?

Thanks for the advice folks. Going to invest in a sensor first to benchmark and then go down the small oil cooler and thermostat route. Probably a 10 row cooler as this is a small as the Mocal coolers go.

Invested in the following oil temperature sensor, hope it's good enough, as it was way cheaper than anything else and comes with an adapter ready to swap directly into the sump. Will install in the speedo housing at a later date when I'm feeling a little more brave!
