Which pistons are best for reliability and cost when using around 15psi of boost. I'm running a metro turbo carb and dizzy and a intercooler from a calibra. I don't want to spend a fortune but don't want to waste my money on crap! Also what ball figure power should I expect with this setup? Cheers Ben |

std turbo pistons are fine, but the prefered one are accralites, but as long as you go for a good quality piston and dont run it lean or in det you'll be ok.

im on cast omegas but there alot more expensive now, there is a couple members running 21253 pistons, iirc these are cheap and have been used upto around 20psi, so at 15psi shouls be a great cheap piston

Are the 21253's AE pistons or the like? I would like to stretch to the omega,s ideally as even standard turbo ones are 200 quid a set so may aswel push the boat out a bit more and get some fandangos! |

personally I'd pay the extra for a set of cast omega's. On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:

My thoughts too! Do it once and right, and hopefully if I do have issues, they,l cope better with them! Where would be recommended to get them from? Ideally I'd like to take my block and get it bored out at the same time! |

MED have sole rights to Omega pistons and Swiftune sell them under license, so one of those two I seriously doubt it! |

This subject has been comprehensively covered quite recently, as a search will reveal. |

Indeed and I had searched the subject of pistons, however it is still useful to get input as I guess everyone's engine spec will differ in one way or another, thanks for everyone's help! |

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem. |
