Hi - This '90ish MG Turbo dies when I go above 20 mph. comes back when I slow down. I've put in a new carb, with correct spring and needle, a new wastegate, new fuel pump etc.

The A series expert mechanics couldn't fix it, so i now run without the turbo connected.

The fuel line (which has a return pipe) has been flushed.

Before I replace the whole thing has anybody got any ideas?

Historically... the car suddenly stopped whilst driving. The electric fuel pump broke, so was replaced. Then the carb started to leak which we thought was the cause of the dying. Alas not.

Thanks for your help.

Unlikely to be fuel pressure reg if it at least runs.

There are a fewsimple things to check first:

Check all connections to carb, including the float bowl overflow (which is connected to an anti-run-on valve on the metro.

Check that the lean-off pipe is connected properly and not split

Check that the gasket that you put between the carb and plenum is the correct one and the right way round with the hole for the feed to pressurise the float bowl open.

A couple of questions,

How mechanically minded are you, and where are you based?
If you are not that great with doing things yourself it may be better to find one of the chaps off here local to you to have a look. Otherwise the list that Wil suggests above is a sound starting point.

Thanks for the info. Will check these, I live in Surrey and it's been suggested I should find a local expert to check all that I've done - anyone any ideas?

i'd have a really close look at the pipes to the carb ,and the presure regulator ,fold them and squeeze them and see if there are any cracks .also , i'd take the fuel preure regulator apart , its very simple just 4 screws ,and check the diaphragm inside ,is not split ,and the little brass piston is not stuck with debris .
