How much power/boost can you get from a r5 turbo on mirage manifolds,? my engine would be a 1310 running a ic phase2 cam, dizzy and carb from a metro turbo. just trying to figure ifits worth spending the extra on a hybrid turbo. Cheers Ben |

Well you will need to fabricate a downpipe, they were fitted to saab 93 and 95's

I think around 140bhp and 14 psi, then the R5 T2 becomes uneffeicent. 180 as been achieved, but pushing it. The GT1752 is more modern and as less inertia, but T2 is still far better than the T3 and still a good turbo for up to 140bhp.

Im looking at a t2 purely because its much easier to fabricate a down pipe - or id have gone gt1752 On 10th Mar, 2012 theoneeyedlizard said:

What power do you want? Looking at the T2 map I have you're looking at 140 efficiently (12 to 13 psi). Above this you'll end up in the 60% region.

.well., if I could get a easy 140 bhp for everyday that,d be good I mainly want something that is useable, I don,t mind a bit of character as I'm used to running a296 cam in my cooper. Is the turbo off the Saab water cooled ike the r5 one? aslong a there,s no bulkhead mods il be happy, fabricating a down pipe is no robs as. Work in a fab shop! |
