These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

From the printout, it looks like it's saying the total cost was $51.03, meaning about £32.52

Was it that price, or was it just put down as that price to avoid the extra custom charges

If that was the price you paid, please give me more details as I need one

Where did you order it from?
Do they have a website?
Phone number?
Method of payment?
What was include in the box?
etc
etc

From what I know, it's the value on the customs declaration (image 2) uk customs look at to determine wether to charge the buyer.

I bought direct from autosportslabs website, ordered the normal way through PayPal. The white box (megajolt box) was in a slightly larger box with packing peanuts and the shift light I decided to get.

I've heard sending higher value items as a gift is one way of getting around the customs charges, but I've never tried this myself.

As said it's down to a false custom declaration (unless it only cost $23 for the contents and $28 postage - I can believe the $28 postage but not the $23 cost).

It may have been a genuine mistake by the seller ie, they only stated the smaller item value instead of the total order if the order included more than one item but none of the reputable sellers in the USA will make false declarations as they would be prosecuted if caught.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

When I ordered the water pumps for me and matty they arrived with no customs charge.

A few weeks later a letter arrived saying I owed them money, "bugger this i thought".

A few weeks passed and a reminder arrived, I forgot to take it away with me, and the next weekend a court order was waiting for me at home!

This is true - 9/10 things you buy from china on ebay are marked as a gift.

I bought from autosport labs because it was cheaper then trigger wheels by quite a bit, I also didnt get any customs issues at all. Was in my hands within a week of ordering it as well :)

Deffinatly recommend getting it from those guys.

Whether the incorrect value of the item was an accident or on purpose, putting it on an online forum and talking about how you didn't pay any import tax cannot be a good idea. I would be keeping this info to myself personally.

Don't the customs just charge you vat on top of the cost paid for the item?

one day boost will be mine!

Depends how it is sent.

VAT, yes, Duty sometimes, plus a handling charge if it goes the last part of the journey by RoyalMail or Parcleforce.

The RoyalMail/Parcleforce handling charge is totally outrageous, so try and get USA stuff sent by UPS, not USPS (which then goes to RoyalMail/Parcleforce) and you will only get VAT and duty and no handling charges but you will have to pay UPS the VAT at your doorstep.

I have just got my megajolt. No tax. No VAT. All you have to do is get an address outside the EC. *smiley*
Mine is in Afghanistan.

I would like to offer you to ship to my address but i think double shipping will be the same as the tax.

Hi Guys,
Ordered my MJ from Autosport Labs over 3 weeks ago. Got a bill this morning for £42 GBP import duty tax to pay before it will be dispatched to my home.
I know that it is fair that import tax has to be paid, and I am happy to pay it, but I just wanted to highlight to other TM members thinking of ordering from America, to be fully aware that there could be some hidden costs as shown. Some people have managed to receive things from Autosport labs with no charge, but I wasnt so lucky. Also, nearly 4 weeks since ordering (largely down to the customs clearance) is a long time, seeing as I ordered some other parts from the states that arrived in 4 days.
Still quite a good deal all in all though and would recommend Autosport Labs, but just be aware of the possible extra costs.
