Well after having a think about what i want to do with my other the mini i am about to buy, i have decided to go for a turbo engine i want to try and get around 175 bhp, i know that it is probably a lot to ask for, well for a first attempt but i have had some mechanical experience.
Is there anyway someone could help with a build log which someone has done to reach that spec? specific part needed? And so on and so fourth

Regards

Alex

I think it's important to try and optimise the setup with whatever you choose to go with, to a certain extent. I'm hoping to see around 170 with my setup, 1380 T3 on turbophil ported metro manifolds and around 17psi with an n/a mg metro cam and well worked head. Time will tell when i get it on the road but i dont think i'll be too far off that figure hopefully. Theres lots of different ways of getting, just decide what you'll use the car for a design your setup accordingly. At the end of the day you get whatever power and torque figures you end up with. And then if you're not happy with it, you can improve it, but the best advice to be given is try and build everything future proof. As everybody says, once you get the taste for it, you'll want more and more and more!

Have a read through plenty of threads, use the search function, and if you find nothing then don't be afraid to ask questions! I'm sure theres a rough guide to 170hp on the turbo-mini.com site, and just tweak bits and pieces to suit, But how far you go depends on how deep your pockets are!

Decent head, phase 2 cam and 17psi is all you need to make that power.

You will need to think about the gearbox and diff though.

EDIT: and a good intercooler.

What would you need to do to get a descent head?

Metro Van was exactly that spec lizard.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Either Benross or Turbophil on here both do cylinder head work, and have a very good reputation. You will want a well worked head to get the power you are aiming for, so bigger valves and gas flowing will be necessary.

And that was around 170nanas at that boost wasn't it?

Its what mine does if I remember correctly. I've not used less than 20 pounds for so long I can't remember :)

No.. We are referring to the total spec of the engine that was in Johns Van, not the van heads in general.
