Are they actually orange? They should be amber if you want to get arsy with the MOT bloke. Just chuck some cheap coloured bulbs in for now if i were you then swap em back later.

there are bulbs on ebay which are silver , but flash amber/orange mate...

just type silver indicator bulbs on ebay search. and get the ones you need. they are avalible for side indicatores also...

they cost 2/3 quid a pair

for re tests it all depends on the garage, mine was free 7 days later and i did the repairs myself. all down to the testing garage.

Oh I thought all garages had to give a free retest within 10 working days. Guess my garage is just nice then.

I think the official rules are:-

1. If it fails and the car stays at the garage to have the repairs done, the retest if free
2. If it fails and is removed from the garage, but is returned to the garage for them to do the repairs, they can charge half the full test
3. If it fails and is removed from the garage, and the work is done elswhere and then brought back to the garage, they are entitled to charge a full retest fee

Most don't follow these rules, as nobody would bring their cars back for MOT's
