Got a gas one at work, works alright, does put out a bit of fumes but you can still work in there with the door closed.

I use one of those halogen heaters good for instant heat and cheap to run on the leccy to boot, but saying that I do only have a small workshed not sure how it would do in a proper workshop thou |

I believe Calor gas style heaters lead to chrome parts rusting.

Its not just chrome parts, guy over the road does bare metal work on body shells, cant use those type of heaters due to condensasion, would just rust the shell up before it goes to paint

I have an electric panel heater which isnt fabulous but it really takes the edge off. I usually turn it off after about 20-30 minutes or I get too hot. If Im standing at the bench making stuff or working on one part of the car for more than a minute or two I stand on a bit of old carpet which makes more difference than you would realise I seriously doubt it! |

I've a couple of electric bar heaters in a garage full of Mini and GTM. Was 1 degrees in there yesterday. My heaters can't cope with that. They are alright for standing in front of , beer can in hand gazing at the cars and that's about it till it warms up in a few weeks. |

Nice thing about the propane space heater is you can fire it up for 2 mins- then shut it off. It really does take the edge off that fast.
